Fall in LA? Seems kind of funny considering Los Angeles is sunny most of the year. Surpsingly that’s been one of the hardest things to get used to after living here in LA for 3 years. When I was living in Dallas (my entire life!) I loved transitioning my wardrobe with the season changes. I still haven’t gotten used to the idea of wearing sandals in the fall but I love this time of year in LA. The weather compared to summer is cooler and gets quite chilly in the evenings. I’ve found that even if you live in a sunny place like LA, you can still enjoy some of fall’s hottest trends. Today I teamed up with Old Navy to show you 4 ways I’m rocking the fall season in my wardrobe that are reasonable with the west coast weather. Keep reading to see some of the trends!
Shirt dresses are a DUH for fall. It’s a cozy piece that you can wear for any occasion all year round. I always love bringing out the plaid prints this time of year in warmer color schemes. Red hues are always a great color that remind me of autumn. Since it gets chilly in LA at night, it’s handy to layer it on with a cute cardigan or light jacket. Nothing too thick but a piece that will keep you warm. Ponchos are so in right now so I figured I’d give it a go with this cherry number. I practically have these booties in every fall color. You can easily dress them up or down. Best of all, they are comfy.

Darker denim hues and cozy sweaters are totally LA this fall. You can never go wrong with a pair of jeans that you can transition easily from day to night. Notice the dark blue color feature this cool patch work effect which makes the look that much more eye catching and fun for fall. I love it! The black stretchy jean is more classic but the little rips and tears add the perfect edge. Heather grey is one of my favorite colors to wear during the fall season. I decided to pair the black skinnies with an loose turtle-neck sweater that’s on-trend but comfy around the neck. If I lived in a colder city, I can totally see myself wearing a long-sleeve button up underneath but it’s LA so no need for all that! ;) Layering is so fall so if you’re wondering how to get away with this trend in LA - I paired a flannel underneath this little grey sweater. I’m rolling up the sleeves to give it a chill fall vibe. The fabric of this specific flannel is cotton so it’s not going to make you feel like you’re burning up inside!
