If you follow me on SnapChat (SazanBarzani), then you've heard about my new app-session with Periscope app. Let me start by saying this is not a sponsored post for the app - I am literally obsazzed. No joke. It might have just surpassed Instagram and SnapChat for me (oh no she didn't!)In a nutshell, this Periscope app has been sitting on my home screen page on my IPhone for a couple of months now. When I heard about the app I figured, "oh it's something I'll just download and open when I have time." That time finally came on Wednesday night when Stevie and I had two of our pals over for a date-night. When the boys went out to smoke a cigar, Raye and I decided to sit on the couch and do what girls do best - chit chat and talk about makeup (she's also a Youtuber). I don't remember how it came up but I mentioned how I've been hearing everyone talking about this Periscope app lately and if it's something we should test out. She was fascinated to download it and try it out and so we did. It started with both of us accidentally realizing that we started a live session without knowing it. I think everyone who uses the app on their first try is like, "what is this?" #mindblownInstantly I was hooked. It was like Face-time and SnapChat had a baby. I noticed that our "live broadcast" was now being displayed to users from around the world and being were entering the live stream. A little scary at first! The more I stayed on the app, I learned that basically you can pick and choose your live-stream settings, which live streams to watch and you can engage with users while watching. I saw people commenting and asking questions - many were fans from Twitter. I loved it!
I'm new to the app but I've already done a few live videos. You can ask me questions and it pops up on the bottom screen during the live session. I also have the option to save my live chats so that people can go back and watch it at a later time (note: the downside to this is you can only watch - not interact). Another cool feature is if someone you're following "goes live", you can get a notification on your phone so that way you won't miss it!
It's genius. I'll admit another down-side is not knowing what creepers are watching and the kinds of questions you will be asked (I recommend do NOT tag your location!) The plus side (for influencers especially) is literally getting to hang out with your fans all around the world at one time. I'm already thinking about hosting live Q&A sessions, some quick tutorials and even sharing my personal experiences through out the day. I already feel closer to my loyal followers and I want to get to know more of you through the app! Unfortunately with IG and Snapchat, we don't have that capability yet.
