Over the past few months I have been receiving tons of requests from you guys to share my curly hair routine. Well here it is! I love slash hate when my girlfriends make comments about how genetically blessed I am in the hair department. I don’t think so. In fact if I get out of the shower and decide to put absolutely no product in my hair and let it hair dry - it’s a disaster. I’m constantly learning how to appreciate my curls by taking care of them. In other words, I’ve been paying more attention to the heat I’m applying on my hair and the products I’m using. After sharing my straight hair routine, I decided why not do the same for my curly hair routine?
I’m learning to love my curly hair thanks to Living Proof products. It’s the first brand I’ve used in a long time that has a curly hair line that actually works. Over the past few months you’ve seen me working closely with them to take better care of my hair and understand the science behind their products. Here’s what I’m currently using and my natural curls routine. It’s important for me to mention first that the haircut matters. When I cut my hair short and got rid of all the dead ends, I noticed a huge difference!
1. Shampoo + Conditioner I wash my hair just 2-3 times a week. I’ve been using Living Proof’s Perfect Hair Day Shampoo and Conditioner to really cleanse my hair and boy does it work. I took their travel-sized bottles with me during my month long travel. Celebrity hairstylist and Living Proof’s in-house genius Chris McMillan taught me that it’s best to let my hair air dry completely after the shower and DO NOT touch it with my fingers or style until it’s completely dry. I found it helpful when I’m in the shower to brush my hair with a wide-tooth comb or my finger tips so that when I get out of the shower I can gently pat it dry, put in my products, and leave it alone until it dries. It really makes a difference and I’ve seen less frizz!!!
2. Styling ProductsI have naturally thick hair when it dries so for me creating volume isn’t my biggest concern. The biggest problem I run into with my curls is frizz and it’s so annoying! That was until I started using Living Proof. Right now I’m using their Restore Instant Repair cream to smooth and correct my damaged split ends. I also apply a small amount of their Curl Defining Styling Cream or Curl Enhancing Styling Mousse (sometimes both) for extra conditioning and long-lasting touchable curls!
3. Heat Styling TipsAfter my hair dries on its own with the products in there, I will then go back and touch up any areas that aren’t willing to cooperate! Small touch-ups are all I need! Usually I do this with my curling wand or a low-heat curling iron. I run my fingers through my hair after to blend all the curls in together and keep things looking natural! My favorite thing about all these products are that they are for all hair types, sulfate/silicone/oil-free and safe for color treated hair. I’ve been trying tons of their other products and haven't been disappointed with any of them so far. Like any health regiment/routine, I recommend you use these products consistently for an extended period of time. You’ll notice healthier hair in just one use (I did) - but even better results over-time. Cheers!
