Surprise, surprise! For the past month I've been teasing my upcoming international trip and finally TODAY I'm revealing my next #SazanTravels vacation! In less than one month I'm heading to the homeland! It has been 8 YEARS since I last visited Kurdistan (in Northern Iraq) so I'm very excited to re-connect with family, friends, THE FOOD (yum!) and hopefully even meet some of my sweet Kurdish fans along the way! For those of you not familiar with Kurdistan, don't you worry because I will be sharing my journey with all of you when I get back. It's funny when I tell people I'm going to Iraq, the look on their faces is priceless. The media has painted this scary picture of Iraq (and yes in some parts it can be scary ESP right now), but Kurdistan is one of the most peaceful places in the middle east. Kurdistan in Iraq is an autonomous region, meaning that even though it's not its own country we have our own government. The Kurdish people are so friendly and the places you will see are so beautiful. I'll only be there for two weeks and might have limited access to internet and technology but I'll be sure to update you guys as often as I can! When I get back, I'll have a full recap.This pretty kaftan dress I'm wearing in the pictures is actually a beach cover up I found at H&M last week. Crazy huh!!?! The print really caught my eye so I got creative and put a white slip underneath to make it into a long dress. Ironically it looks VERY similar to the traditional Kurdish dress and fabric we wear back home so it definitely worked out for me in more ways than one! I found similar styles here and here.I hope you're just as excited to see Kurdistan (through my pics!) as I am to share the journey. If any of you reading this are currently living in Kurdistan of Iraq and have places to suggest that I must see, please share! I'm sooooo excited!!!
