I like my face looking oil-free but also glow-y (in the right spots!). After years of trial and error with makeup brands that I loved or hated, I finally figured out how to achieve my perfect look. And guess what? What happens in the bathroom mirror doesn't stay there because I'm sharing my secret. Read on..
Want a look that you can take from day to night without having to re-apply over and over again?! I get asked tons of questions about my makeup routine and decided today I'll share a closer look at one of my go-to favs (it's super easy to achieve!). If there's one thing I will invest in that is a good foundation! One of the best goals you can set is protecting your skin from harsh chemicals and irritants that are no bueno! I'm going to walk you through how I achieved this makeup look on a recent post. Hope this inspires you to try this look + shop some of my favorites while you're at it. Let's get started!
To achieve the look above, the most important step to begin with is the prep! Regardless of your skin type, everyone needs to prep! ;) Before I applied anything to my face, I cleansed my skin and used my favorite SPF oil-free moisturizer. After I did this I applied a firm eye cream underneath and around my eyes to give them extra moisture (which also holds the under-eye concealer better). Next, I applied my anti-shine mattifying gel which works as a primer that will hold your foundation and prevent crazy shine from happening. It's seriously my favorite.
This doesn't include everything (like translucent powder, mascara etc) but it's mostly everything! If your skin easily breaks out, always go with oil-free liquid foundation or a powder. The brush you use is important (critical actually!) so if you want that flawless coverage, go with the beauty blender brush and then use another brush or white sponge to press on the translucent powder. The secret brightening powder you see there (#2) I used underneath my eyes. As soon as I applied my highlighter and concealer under the eyes (not pictured but I use this one) I applied the brightening powder which is lighter than regular ole' translucent powder - doesn't dry out the skin and makes your eyes pop! I also included my favorite blush, it's a rosy pink color (you guys always me on Insta!) which compliments this matte bronzer nicelyafter I contoured. I finished off this look with a bold lip and fierce cat-eye. I included links to shop all these items below!
These two items are the magic products that make me feel like I got my makeup professionally done every time. YSL's highlighter (my shade is 2.5) goes on top of my concealer under the eyes. Then I add the brightening powder as mentioned above. This highlighter is the best, even though it's pricey- it's worth it. Also, Benefit Cosmetics has this amazing glow stick called "What's up!" and girl let me tell you what is up. This stick is magic. I apply a little to my nose and at the top of my cheekbones to give my face a finished glow. It seriously lasts all day and comes with an applicator sponge but I just use my finger.
Hope this made sense to you. I want to do a tutorial video showing you guys because I know that sometimes it gets tricky when you're reading a how-to instead of seeing it. ;)
